Security

Companies that value high availability can install NetMan Desktop Manager in a Microsoft cluster. This automatically provides redundant servers and failover capability.

SSL-Gateway

If desired, all access to the web interface can be routed through the SSL gateway integrated in NetMan Desktop Manager. The traffic is then encrypted with an 128-bit key length, ensuring secure access to the terminal server and the published applications.

Access Control

NetMan Desktop Manager provides significantly expanded control capabilities in comparison to a plain Microsoft Terminal Server. For example, access to applications can be restricted by IP addresses, address groups, or DNS host names.

Two-factor Authentication

The new integrated web interface also supports 2-factor authentication using one-time passwords (OTP). Authentication then takes place using a RADIUS server to guarantee compatibility with all common token solutions.

RDP-Ticketing

Similarly, NetMan Desktop Manager also goes an important extra mile in regard to security against unauthorized use: In its integrated ticketing procedure, the validity of RDP files is limited to a configurable time period. This means that the information contained in the RDP file is no longer usable after a certain delay, and unauthorized access to terminal servers is blocked.

Client Drive Filtering

NetMan Desktop Manager also closes security holes that result from uncontrolled access to the workstations' locally connected client drives and replaceable USB storage media. The administrator can specify which folders on locally connected drives are accessible. This effectively prevents the introduction of undesired data and applications during the session.
